    In 1999, over 103993 trademarks have been approved for registration by the Trademark Office of State Administration for Industry and Commerce (SAIC Trademark Office), reported by the SAIC recently. Thus to date, the number of valid trademark registrations in China has hit 1.1494 million, continually ranked the top ten in the world. Meanwhile, the well-known trademarks nominated in China are also up to 153. 
    Moreover, during the last year there were altogether 5407 cases of trademark appeals that have been accepted and 3563 appeal cases that have been decided.
